Position open until filled
Job Definition: Administers all financial practices of the School, including planning, budgeting, accounting, and auditing.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates and manages the function of financial planning for the School, including the preparation of the annual budget of 31 million.
Provides advice to the Head of School, Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, and Investment Committee regarding the financial status of the School.
Coordinates and manages the accounting functions in the Business Office, using Blackbaud accounting software, including managing an administrative staff of three.
Coordinates audit work required for annual audit including workpaper and financial statement preparation, all in accordance with GAAP.
Gathers and prepares information required for preparation of annual Form 990.
Monitors compliance of Bond covenants.
Keeps the school community advised of new legal requirements.
Cash management duties, including an endowment of 50 million.
Coordinates with the Director of Human Resources on employee benefits and renewals, annual employee contract preparation and setting the faculty salary scale.
Risk management and insurance renewals.
Preparation of numerous surveys, compliance reports, and information requests for financial data.

Requirements:
Bachelor degree in accounting and a minimum of five years of experience in accounting required. Preference will be given to candidates who are CPA’s and have previous experience in an independent school or other non-profit corporation. Must possess competent computer skills, excellent communication skills and supervisory experience. Candidates must have the ability to make independent judgments, which have significant impacts on the School.
