Granger Waste Services is looking for a Director of Fleet Maintenance strategic leader with a "big picture" mindset who can shift between operational and strategic work and problem solve with the team.

Here is a preview of the scope of this new role:

• 5 maintenance facilities across Michigan
• Over 130 routed trash trucks with various makes and models
• Heavy equipment including trash machines, D8 dozers, excavators, off road trucks and loaders
• Other equipment that includes semis, walking floor trailers, boom and bulk trucks
• Supporting team of managers, supervisors and 28 mechanics

• Earned recognition as Granger’s maintenance and DOT expert
• Clearly defined and communicated action plan for success with defined and measured goals, buy-in from all contributors and a team approach to companywide success
• Well maintained fleet across all locations having no past due PM’s or equipment operating while not meeting Granger standards
• Adequate availability of trucks and equipment
• Exceeding the expectations of our internal and external customers
• A culture of collaboration and teamwork

Where is what we are looking for in a qualified candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in diesel technology, management or related field strongly preferred
• 7+ years fleet management experience including building budgets, defining maintenance programs and utilizing data to report goal outcomes
• Strong working knowledge of diesel truck and heavy equipment maintenance
• Proven leader with strong data analytical skills, problem solver, business minded and a true collaborator who can to gain trust and build effective working relationships
• Experience building and leading high-performing, customer-focused logistics teams that deliver meaningful results.
• Proven track record for scaling complex transportation/fleet-based operations while focusing on the customer experience and controlling costs.
