An accredited early care and education and family services program in Rutland, Vermont seeks an experienced Director to lead its success and growth. The Director is responsible for the overall leadership and administration of a Head Start program (3-5), childcare services (including a new infant and toddler care program), and a state grant-funded preschool program. Responsible for assuring that operational mandates and quality standards for compliance are achieved. Overall responsibility for leading planning to develop goals and outcomes, and to drive innovation that result in better services to children and their families. Management of grants and revenue sources. Implement internal and external reporting systems and procedures for monitoring and controlling programmatic activities.

Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree, Master’s level preferred, and 5 to 7 years’ experience in supervision of staff, fiscal management, and administration.

Knowledge and experience in child or family development, education, social work, human services or related field preferred.

Also required are excellent verbal, written, organizational, and communication skills, and exceptional attention to detail; intermediate skills in MS Office applications (particularly Word and Excel), email and internet; skills in documentation, record-keeping and fiscal management; excellent customer service skills and ability to develop and maintain strong, cooperative relationships with program staff, parents and federal, state and community agencies and organizations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Must be committed to social justice, to working with families with limited financial resources, and to maintaining client confidentiality.

Must be skilled in following precise instructions and meeting deadlines, and must possess abilities to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

Must be energetic, positive, mature, professional, diplomatic, motivated, have a can-do, extra-mile attitude, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable personal means of transportation required.

Must demonstrate physical ability to carry out required tasks.

Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, and to perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to uphold safety standards.
