Job Summary
Manages the day-to-day operations of the college's high school services programs, including, College Now Dual Credit, Middle College, Adult High School Diploma Program, Gateway to College Director, Credit Recovery, Expanded Options, Early College Partnerships, and underage enrollment. Designs, implements, and oversees education programs, services and resources for the region in support of the vision, mission and strategic goals of the College. Fosters partnerships with school districts, non-profit, and public sector organizations, and industry partners. Provides initiative, leadership, and oversight in the development and implementation of strategies, develops and manages policies, procedures and budgets, and collaborates with applicable internal and external liaisons.

Essential Duties
  • Plans, develops, implements and evaluates programs within prescribed periods and funding parameters. Ensures that the programs reflect national standards.
  • Manages and monitors program interagency agreements. Partners with school districts to determine college offerings and collaborations. Develops custom contracts and ensures all contractual obligations, both financial and programmatic, are met by maintaining appropriate evaluation and reporting procedures.
  • Provides strategic support and input to the design and improvement of the department and related programs and services. Carries out strategic initiatives, and assists with the preparation of short- and long-term plans in support of college mission, vision and goals.
  • Directs the researching, writing, negotiating and securing of funds to ensure maintenance and growth of programs.
  • Directly coordinates the College Now, Middle College, Credit Recovery, and Early College programs. Oversees the programs, develops and manages policies and procedures, carries out strategic goals, and acts as the liaison to high schools and other organizations. Represents the College and attends at high school events and for recruitment of students.
  • Provides coordination and advising for all students under the age of 16.
  • Represents MHCC in the Perkins Regional Consortium, and leads the work on yearly grant requests for the college.
  • Manages program budget development and management. Prepares, monitors, controls and ensures spending with the budget allocation. Develops cost estimates for future needs. Conducts request for proposal (RFP) solicitations for program products and services.
  • Recruits, selects, hires, schedules, and orients employees. Trains employees and provides opportunities for personal and professional development. Coaches, encourages and motivates employees, to enhance individual skills, promotes professional growth, and maximizes staff performance. Fosters a team environment that encourages and supports teamwork, and models and maintains high performance standards and performance expectations. Evaluates employee performance, works with employees to correct deficiencies, rewards and recognizes employees, and implements discipline procedures, as necessary
  • Manages program design, implementation, evaluation, and promotion of demand-driven, training and educational services throughout the district.
  • Represents the college in various committees, initiatives, and workgroups as well as community, stakeholder, or educational events.
  • Maintains strong partnerships and communicates regularly and effectively with high schools, school districts, and government organizations and staff.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and develops administrative and programmatic systems and procedures to ensure effectiveness of programs and compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Monitors compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, accrediting commissions, licensing requirements, and with administrative regulations, board policies and collective bargaining agreements as appropriate.
  • Promotes innovation and improved services for students, employees and the community.
  • Dedicated to and promotes diversity in staffing, curriculum, programs and services.
  • Acts as the point of contact for concerns from students, parents, faculty, and staff.

Additional Duties
  • Lead the MHCC High School Relations Committee
  • Attends training sessions and participates in professional training opportunities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Computer Skills, etc.)


  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, social work, education or a related field
  • Five (5) years of experience working in K-12 and/or higher education, including at least three (3) years of experience working in a lead, supervisory, or management role.
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds of the college’s community, students and employees; demonstrated commitment to promoting access and diversity
  • Current driver's license, insurance, access to reliable automobile during work hours for transportation to off-campus sites, and the ability to be insured by the College insurance carrier. Must have at least three (3) years of driving history.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business administration, public administration, social work, education or a related field
  • Experience working with college transition programs, advising students, and managing interagency agreements
  • Experience customer relationship management (CRM) or other databases

Working Conditions and Important Information

Working Conditions
Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment; travel between college sites and throughout the community; occasional irregular hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Demands: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and to travel between college locations and throughout the community; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a vehicle, computer keyboard and other office equipment; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying office equipment, supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds; emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read, prepare and assure the accuracy of documents.


Salary

Initial salary placement will be based on years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the applicable Handbook or Collective Bargaining Agreement.
