SUMMARY
The Director of Major Gifts identifies, develops, and maintains relationships through high-level interactions with current and prospective donors stewarding them to make transformational gifts for the ministry. This role supports the overall media ministry with both the Donor Care and Fundraising departments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops a donor cultivation plan that supports a biblical philosophy of fundraising.
- Raises gifts, including new and established campaigns focusing primarily on mid and major gift gifts, to support general operating revenue in alignment with budget goals.
- Cultivates relationships and serves donors’ needs through but not limited to, phone, mail and email, personal notes, thank you receipt mailings, special communications, station tours, concerts and other events, presentations, or group meetings with leadership and/or other team members.
- Manages a personal portfolio of donors and donors and prospective donors across the listening area and maintains documentation of activity in the database.
- Understands and knows donor database best practices and department standard operating procedures, maintaining necessary documentation of personal portfolio activity in the database.
- Helps develop and support giving opportunities aligned with donor passions and ministry initiatives.
- Understands concepts related to planned giving, events and marketing and participates in preparing, conducting, and following up as needed to serve donors’ needs.
- Stays current with news, events, and social and economic issues relating to constituents.
- Serves as spokesperson for WGTS 91.9 at partner meetings and events as requested.
- Provides regular follow-up reporting to the CDO and leadership team as requested.
- Adheres to high ethical standards, per ECFA and other compliance standards followed by WGTS 91.9.
- Participates in departmental and staff meetings as requested.
- Assists in other Development activities as requested.
- Fosters an environment of professional development.
- Contributes to the broader WGTS team effort to encourage our listeners to take one step closer to Christ.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- CFRE Certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in major or planned giving fundraising
- Successful experience with cold calling as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies
- Understands the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors to develop relationships between them and the media ministry
- Demonstrated experience supporting teams in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated exceptional planning and multi-tasking ability
Language Skills
- Superior command of English grammar and spelling
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional presentation and public speaking skills
Mathematical and Technology Skills
- Experience with donor tracking systems, software, and databases
- Raiser’s Edge experience preferred
- Basic understanding of how to operate standard business equipment
- Working knowledge and application of Microsoft 365, including Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint
