I. Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Director of Nursing is responsible for ensuring the general well-being of residents through the delivery of high quality service in a manner that is consistent with the assisted living philosophy. The Director of Nursing will establish procedures, objectives and work standards and is responsible for the management and supervision of the direct care staff and aspects of care activities of all staff. The Director of Nursing is responsible for quality care for providing a “system of care” for residents in a manner and environment that provides dignity and respect in full recognition of each resident’s individuality. Requires the ability to understand and follow policies and procedures of infection control, disaster preparedness, safety rules and regulation and facility rules. Position may require local and limited travel.
II. Employment Qualifications
- LICENSURE: Must be a Registered Nurse and meet licensing and/or qualification requirements of Florida State laws and/or regulations.
- EXPERIENCE: Must have supervisory and geriatric nursing experience and sensitivity to the interest of, and understanding of the physical, mental, social, spiritual characteristics of aging, while maintaining an appreciation of the resident’ psychosocial well-being.
