Job description
Calvert County Nursing Center seeks dedicated candidate to grow our nursing department. The ideal candidate should be outgoing, energetic & have the ability to work in a fast-paced setting.
The Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations that govern the facility. The Director of Nursing is responsible for ensuring that the highest degree of quality care is always maintained.
Essential Functions
- Assure adequate 24-hour nursing coverage in facility each day
- Maintains clear lines of authority and responsibility with the development of nursing services.
- Participate in developing, maintaining, and periodically updating written nursing policies, procedures, reference materials, manuals, objections, and philosophies
- Make recommendations to the facility Quality Assurance Committee for facility policy and procedure, development and revisions.
- Assist in developing and implementing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
- Interpret the departmental policies and procedures to ensure they are being followed.
- Attend care plan meetings - coordinating to ensure overall physical, emotional, and social needs of the residents are being met. In addition, observe that items in care plan are being properly implemented and provided.
- Oversee/direct/coordinate/train nursing staff.
- Determine the staffing needs of the nursing service department necessary to meet the total nursing need of the residents
- Recruits, interviews, hires, counsels, and evaluates nursing services personnel.
- Make at a minimum daily round of the nursing service department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable ensuing standards
- Is responsible for making daily rounds for observation of the care of residents, for talking with physician and visiting selected residents
- Communicate and coordinate with physicians, discharge planners or appropriate facility representatives from health care facilities regarding resident admissions, transfers and discharges as needed
- Keep current with the changes in all state and federal regulations that impact patient care
Requirements:
- Must have an Active RN License in the state of Maryland.
- Must have at least 5 years of management experience in a facility setting.
