POSITION DESCRIPTION
OWN IT: Building Black Wealth is looking to hire a Director.
The Director is the senior staff leader of OWN IT. Their primary responsibility is to oversee the Education program and contribute significantly to OWN IT’s overall operations and communication efforts. In collaboration with the OWN IT Board and leadership, the Director works to solidify the vision and future direction of the organization and helps the program scale and expand.
This position is full time. Compensation includes a base salary of $60,000 per year (to be paid bi-weekly) plus benefits. Work can be done in a hybrid form of onsite and remote. The job is expected to begin January 2023. The Director is employed by One City Schools and reports to the OWN IT Board.
We are seeking applicants who are in alignment with the vision and values of OWN IT and who have strong leadership experience, understanding of wealth building, homeownership, as well as historical and current racial disparities in this arena. They will be working closely with OWN IT participants and with other audiences and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Education Programming (50%). The Director oversees the operations of the education programs, which currently includes multiple courses and cohorts. This involves making sure a strong infrastructure is in place from which the program can grow and expand. It also involves strategic leadership in assessing, strategizing, and leading in future program development. This role includes coordinating OWN IT faculty, participants, an advisory team, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
Operations (20%). The Director works in collaboration with other OWN IT working groups, including Fundraising and Ambassador teams and the Board. They supervise a Virtual Assistant and volunteers, providing oversight of operational processes including policies, procedures, and systems.
Communication (20%). The Director contributes to and helps lead outreach to and engagement with a variety of stakeholders including: communities of color, real estate, banking, housing, neighborhood associations, and faith communities. The Director oversees communication via multiple forms of media and will be a main point of contact for press.
Fundraising (10%). The Director contributes to fundraising efforts and grant reporting, particularly those related to the funds that support the education program. This includes but is not limited to: developing messaging, attending fundraising events, communicating with current donors as appropriate, and helping to cultivate relationships with potential donors.
Requirements
Alignment. Candidates must have strong alignment with the vision and values of OWN IT.
Proficiency. Candidates should be adept at building relationships with the families served by OWN IT and have the skills to strategically move the organization forward.
Required Skills & Experience. Candidates must have experience working in the education sector and a thorough understanding of financial literacy and the homeownership process. Required skills include strategic leadership experience, being a self-starter, and the ability to take initiative.
Preferred Skills & Experience. It is preferred that Candidates have strong communication, management, organization, relational, and team leadership skills. Candidates should be comfortable interacting with multiple audiences and stakeholders.
