Job Summary:

The Director of Operations, Works is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a $9M Employment Social Enterprise and largest professional Business Improvement District (BID) street maintenance business in Southern California. This role is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction at all job sites, as well as the consistent delivery of programmatic initiatives to our client workforce. As a hands-on contributor and key member of the management team, the Director participates in the development and implementation of short and long-term company and business strategies and fosters strong, enduring cross-departmental alliances.

Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

Account Management

  • Represent Chrysalis at various BID board meetings, customer site visits, and stakeholder meetings, providing overview of services, addressing questions/concerns, and acting as resource for best practices in the field.
  • Conduct frequent quality assurance site visits and customer check-ins.
  • Respond in a positive, prompt, and thorough manner to customer inquiries and issues relating to contract operations.
  • Respond to RFPs for services, including proposal preparation, job cost estimation, submittal, and presentation.

Team Management

  • Directly manage two Senior Operations Managers, while providing indirect but active supervision of the rest of the in-office and contract-based teams.
  • Provide guidance on professional development and identify continued growth opportunities for team members.
  • Maintain a culture of engagement, innovation, support, transparency, and accountability amongst staff.
  • Provide support and direction to staff for employee issues, customer concerns, appearance of company-branded equipment, and other day-to-day activities.

Client Support & Business Delivery

  • Manage to the business budget, including revenue and expense responsibilities.
  • Responsible for successful initiation, planning, design, execution, and monitoring of Works projects.
  • Develop and implement programmatic initiatives for workforce.
  • Mentor and coach workforce of 500+ clients annually, including work performance and programmatic support.

Safety and Compliance

  • Establish and implement operating protocols and safety trainings with support of Human Resources and insurance carrier to ensure business is conducted in safe manner and injuries are minimized.
  • Develop ongoing trainings to address recurring safety issues for transitional employee base.
  • In partnership with Human Resources, oversee consistent and compliant delivery, of, and feedback and disciplinary program to the workforce.

General Duties

  • Adhere to all Chrysalis policies and procedures.
  • Support the Chrysalis Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Skills & Qualifications:

  • Interest in, experience working with, and sensitivity toward the Chrysalis client population, including the re-entry community.
  • Employment Social Enterprise leadership experience a plus.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to coach/mentor staff and clients.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to use tact and diplomacy in all interactions and to appropriately represent Chrysalis to external audiences.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to solve challenging operational problems and make timely decisions, often under pressure with tight and competing deadlines.
  • Understanding of and ability to use software applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro, and Google Suite. Previous experience with case management software a plus.
  • Thrive in high paced, demanding environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • A car and a valid driver’s license. Willingness and ability to make frequent and often unpredictable visits to customer sites.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
