DIRECTOR OF WELLNESS SERVICES & CLIENT PRACTICE
FULL-TIME / EXEMPT
STARTING WAGE: $95,000 - $106,000

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:*
Reporting to the Division Director of Wellness Services & Youth Leadership, the Director of Wellness Services & Client Practice is responsible for the development, implantation and evaluation of the Wellness and Client Practice Departments. This includes hiring, training, and supervising Program Managers, Program Staff and Interns while collaborating with the Division Director to move the strategic priorities of the departments forward. As a member of the leadership team the Director will take an active role in collaborating with other leadership and community partners to bring alive Larkin Street’s mission and values in all aspects of operation.

The Wellness Department provides direct mental health and substance use support to youth through clinical and harm reduction services. The Client Practice Department provides non-clinical group supervision and training for all case managers focused on providing support and advancing case management practice.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direct oversight in hiring, training, and supervision of program staff, primarily through direct supervision of Program Manager(s).
  • Develop, oversee, and evaluate programming.
  • Provide outreach, workshops, consultation, and crisis response.
  • Represents the agency at external meetings; developing and promoting contacts, working relationships, and cooperative collaboration between Larkin Street’s Wellness services and other agencies and organizations involved in behavioral health services.
  • Oversee budgets, data collection and tracking, contract requirements and program outcomes.
  • Promote collaboration, cross training, and dual programming among program teams within the division and throughout the agency.
  • Hold On-Call responsibilities as assigned and scheduled in rotation.
  • Assist with special projects and other assignments as requested by Senior Leadership and the Chief of Programs.

  • Actively participate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work within the agency along with managing programs with a lens on DEI.
  • Lead staff teams through the successful implementation of Larkin Street’s strategic priorities, ensuring that services and decision-making are aligned with the strategic plan.

  • Maintain an awareness of the agency’s mission and work to promote the positive individual and social change goals it embodies.

  • Actively strive to upgrade professional skills through engaging in appropriate professional training and experience.

EDUCATION & LICENSING:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, Psychology, or closely related field
  • Current California license in good standing, LCSW, MFT, or Ph.D

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE*:

  • 2-3 years of management and supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience overseeing program design and development, implementation and operations, project integration and management across multiple agency sites, staff supervision and training and budget management.
  • Experience providing mental health services in a social service setting, preferably with systematically marginalized populations.
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy, and psychoeducational groups.
  • Knowledgeable of the following behavioral health theories and capable of integrating them across Larkin Street Youth Services programs: Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Restorative Practices, and Harm Reduction.
  • Experience working with transitional age youth, homeless and/or marginally housed individuals, people with active mental illness/co-occurring mental health disorders and/or substance use disorders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, clients, and other providers both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel independently throughout the community to Larkin Street’s various program and partner agency sites.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:*

  • Preferred, but not required to provide clinical supervision to Clinician(s) and Clinical Intern(s).
  • Experience providing mental health services for systematically marginalized populations.
  • Prior case management experience working in clinical and or housing/supportive housing programs preferred, but not required.
