Summary:

The Director of Security for the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety and security plans and programs for all elements of the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix. This position will work closely with stadium security and operations colleagues, local public safety officials, and contracted security partners to ensure a safe and secure environment for all staff, guests, and Formula 1 racing personnel.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and annually update safety management plans, incident, and evacuation plans for the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix and all activities related to the event. Ensure all full-time, part-time, and event day staff are knowledgeable of these plans and understand their roles in the execution of the plans
  • Conduct and document an Event Security Risk Assessment, which covers, but is not limited to, the following: Medical Emergencies, Fire/Explosion Hazards, Hazardous Materials Incidents, Acts of Terrorism, Structural Failures/Collapses, Crowd Surges or Pressures, Civil Unrest and Planned or Spontaneous Civil Disturbances, Inclement Weather, Lighting or Power Failures, Security System Failures (radios, CCTV or anti-drone), and Delayed Entry or Event Start Times.
  • Develop and implement robust policies and procedures for the event to promote the physical safety of all visitors, employees, competitors, guests, property, and on-site assets at the event site(s) including but not limited to venue/site design, safety and security policy, crowd management plan, emergency operations plan and emergency operations procedures
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement security protection/access control of the building envelope and primary/secondary perimeters. Utilize 24/7 staff, security contractors, and security systems to execute plans
  • Design and implement a Joint Operations Center (Event Control) as well as all access control, accreditation, and credential framework and requirements for the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix events, in consultation and collaboration with the key stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with local, state, federal law enforcement, intelligence, and private sector counterparts; work collaboratively with public safety and local law enforcement groups for all Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix events
  • Coordinate a temporary flight restriction with the FAA
  • Conduct training and briefings for audiences ranging from executives to front-line associates
  • Ensure third-party security contractors fulfill their obligations to provide certified staff/personnel for the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix and related events in compliance with applicable law
  • Perform compliance checks and audits of security vendors and independent contractors
  • Provide oversight of and decision-making authority of the Emergency Action Plan, the Concept of Operations Plan, and Quality Control/Assurance Plan
  • Identify potential or existing security risks to the overall organization, identify and implement resolutions
  • Ensure compliance with Formula 1 security mandates and protocols


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in an event, stadium, or public gathering security setting, or law enforcement
  • Strong management, administrative, supervisory, training, presentation, consulting, and facilitation skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Skilled in assessing security risks and needs
  • Able to obtain necessary clearances for review of sensitive material
  • Superior knowledge of technical aspects of security systems (e.g. IP Cameras, door access, fire systems, etc.)
  • Able to work a varied schedule including evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary
