About the Director, Total Rewards at Headspace Health:

As the Director of Total Rewards, you will play a key role in optimizing and scaling our company-wide compensation and benefits practices and programs. You will have the unique opportunity to roll up your sleeves and work hands-on while simultaneously providing direction in program development to a fast-growing, and evolving company. This role will report to and work closely with our Chief People Officer. You will provide strategic, operational leadership and support the career growth & development of the following teams: Compensation, Equity and Benefits.

  • Maintain and improve an equitable, scalable, yet comprehensive total rewards strategy (philosophy, supporting policies & practices) that aligns employee rewards & recognition with our corporate values and enables the organization to attract, reward, and retain talent.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership in the design, development, implementation, administration, and communication of our compensation programs including pay, incentives, financial, employee recognition and other rewards.
  • Oversee the ‘Total Rewards’ team, providing day to day leadership and development of a smart, inspiring and performance-driven squad across the following sub-functions: Compensation & Benefits.
  • Work closely with the CPO on executive and director compensation analysis, program design and preparation of materials for the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Set and oversee our annual compensation (merit & promotion) cycle including design of review templates, manager/employee communication and training of process and end-to-end process management - supporting its interdependence to our performance optimization process.
  • Work closely with the Director, Workforce Planning & Talent Acquisition Leadership team to assist in the development of market-competitive & cost-effective compensation packages that enable us to attract high caliber talent while managing internal equity & supporting our expansion into international markets
  • Maintain, optimize and scale a job architecture that effectively defines robust criteria to consistently level roles across the organization using robust survey data and market insights.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to the benefits function that results in effective and efficient management of programs and partners (negotiate favorable renewals, manage open enrollment processes, robust employee communication plans, wellness and health education initiatives, etc.).
  • Collaborate with external benefits and compensation advisors to stay abreast of emerging trends and proactively put forward recommendations that enable us to be competitive and resourceful in our total rewards investments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal regulations (and associated recordkeeping and reporting requirements), maintaining a proactive approach with new and anticipated changes to legislation and regulation, which may impact organizational processes and objectives.
  • Develop and deliver communications & programming strategies that help our employees understand and appreciate the value of their total compensation, inclusive of benefits, base, bonus, equity, programs related to holistic wellbeing, etc.
  • Create synergy between Payroll, People Operations and People Systems to collaborate and ensure seamless integration of compensation and benefits into our systems.

What you’ve accomplished:

  • Seasoned, progressive experience in compensation, benefits, and HR systems/applications.
  • Must have deep experience in executive compensation, equity plan design and preparation of compensation committee materials.
  • Must have prior experience leading a Total Rewards and/or Compensation function
  • Experience in Healthcare & Wellbeing preferrable
  • Prior experience leading HR projects (e.g., system implementations, compensation, and benefit cycles, etc.) with strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to complete a broad range of related action items.
  • Understanding of SEC, SOX, and tax requirements as well as all other government regulations that apply to compensation base and incentive compensation.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and pixel perfect attention to detail.
  • Track record of great interpersonal skills that result in strong collaboration within the HR team, employees, compensation committee members and external partners.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and highly agile environment.
  • Motivated to pursue new and alternative strategies along with a willingness to experiment with different approaches.
