Job description
HGA is seeking a Canvassing Case Manager to join our team for a defined project with a duration of 3-4 months. As a Canvassing Case Manager, you will be responsible for engaging with communities that have been impacted by natural disasters and identifying individuals who may be eligible for financial assistance through federally funded grant programs. You will be responsible for providing support to the community by providing information about the program, assisting with the application process, and ensuring that all necessary documentation is collected. The ideal candidate for this role is organized, detail-oriented, and has experience working with communities affected by natural disasters.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct door-to-door canvassing efforts in communities affected by natural disasters to identify potential grant recipients
  • Maintain understanding of program policies, eligibility requirements and application process in order to provide support and assistance to individuals who are interested in applying for federally funded grants
  • Work closely with community leaders and organizations to ensure that information about the program is disseminated effectively
  • Collect and review documentation from applicants to ensure that all necessary information is provided
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the application process and canvassing efforts
  • Communicate with the Disaster Recovery team to ensure that all necessary information is provided in a timely manner
  • Attend meetings and training sessions related to the program as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Case Manager Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of Disaster Recovery experience preferred
  • Experience with case management and outreach programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
  • Availability to work weekends as required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must be willing to travel within the designated service area
  • Must report to work on time according to weekly schedules
  • Candidates must be located within daily commuting distance of Thibodaux, LA to be considered.
