YOUR ROLE IN OUR MISSION

The primary responsibility of this position is the development, coordination, promotion, and supervision of select ESC ministries and their activities; provide the congregation with opportunities for discipleship and service. Also responsible for strategic planning, implementation and evaluation for select ESC ministries and their activities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate, promote, supervise and evaluate ministries to include but not be limited to the following:
    • Ushers
    • Deaf and Hard of Hearing
    • Greeters
    • Senior Saints
    • Marriage Ministry
    • Men of Purpose
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate the inclusion of evangelistic/devotional emphasis into all of the ministries above and others upon request.
  • Plan, organize, supervise and evaluate approved programs and activities to include but not be limited to the following programs and activities:
  • Ministry Partnerships with JEWEL Human Services
  • Ministry Leadership Development for Ministry Leaders
  • Ministry Leadership Identification, Placements and Election Processes
  • Semi-Annual Ministry Fairs/Promotions for the Congregation
  • Monthly Ministry Highlights in the ESC publications or website
  • Plan and implement an annual prayer event at ESC for National Day of Prayer for the ESC congregation.
  • In partnership with JEWEL Human Services, plan and implement a National Day of Service for the ESC congregation.
  • Develop processes for checking the interest and needs of the congregation to create or delete ministries.
  • Visit all ESC campuses at least once a month to observe ministry activities.
  • Develop an effective work plan that prioritizes and outlines ministry activities, and programs with outcomes and timelines.
  • Supervise ministry mailboxes and select ministry information lines.
  • Coordinate with the ESC Director of Communications for timely and appropriate input for video announcements and social media.
  • Coordinate with the ESC Director of Communications for publication of brochures, calendars, posters, flyers and related communications to help explain and promote ministries.
  • Attend staff meetings and strategic planning sessions contributing and providing appropriate reports and information as requested.
  • Develop and monitor budget, expenditures and projections for each ministry, program and activity.
  • Prepare oral and written reports as requested.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and community representatives
  • Ability to work as a member of a department team with willingness to cross-train certain team functions.
  • Knowledge of word processing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheets Ability to operate personal computer; calculator; copy and fax machine; phone; mobile or portable radio; and automobile.
  • Ability to work in a remote environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university and/or a minimum of 5 years related experience. Experience in program administration, strategic planning, and management.

QUALIFICATIONS and IDEAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Language Skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with administration, supervisor, ESC staff, volunteers, congregation and the community. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups. Ability to effectively read, interpret and present information to top management, the congregation, volunteers and the community.
  • Reasoning Ability
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and data furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop outcomes.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • A Valid Indiana Driver’s License is required.

A mature walk with Christ, evidenced by a strong and well-articulated testimony, personal spiritual discipline, consistency in public and in private, a commitment to moral purity, healthy relationships with others, and healthy relationships with spouse and family (if married).

As faithful stewards, we expect all Eastern Star Church and affiliate entities staff to become a member of Eastern Star Church within 90 days of hire. Eastern Star Church leaders are required to sign the Discipleship Policy Agreement which includes giving of your time, treasure and talent.
