Role Description:

In this role, the individual dispatches our truck drivers to customer locations. To be successful in this position an individual must understand how to dispatch trucks, be able to work under pressure, and have organizational skills which support exceptional freight delivery services.

General Responsibilities and Duties:

• Communicate with our customers and our sales team to record customer requirements
• Planning and adjusting of delivery routes
• Schedule drivers to deliver or collect freight, shipments, and packages
• Schedule deliveries in the most efficient way to best utilize and maximize company resources
• Verify that every scheduled delivery has a prior deposit the day before its requested delivery date
• Provide all dispatch documents, freight bills of lading and invoices
• Ensure that every delivery is checked prior to being shipped
• Ensure that all changes to the bill of lading have been done and that all deliveries are invoiced prior to delivery leaving the yard
• Provide customers with shipment updates when faced with unforeseen circumstances up to and including delivery vehicle breakdowns
• Mandate that every driver follows all company policies and procedures which include calling customers prior to each delivery and providing proof of delivery pictures for every delivery
• Ensure that all drivers follow transportation regulations and laws
• Record all customer complaints and inquiries
• Evaluate driver performance to give constructive feedback for annual reviews
• Assist in monitoring truck preventative maintenance schedules and repairs
• Other duties as assigned by management

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• The Dispatcher oversees CDL and Non-CDL Drivers for the location

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent time management skills: Punctuality and proper time management enhance productivity. A Dispatcher with excellent time-management skills often helps clients get their products on time, improving relationships and brand image. They must also understand how to schedule trips in a way that minimizes time wastage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills: The dispatcher must learn to speak concisely, clearly and audibly to their drivers and customers. This communication must be honest and showcase emotional control, which helps maintain the company's integrity. The truck dispatcher must also be ready to collaborate with other individuals in the logistics chain.
• Technical aptitude and familiarity with various equipment and technologies: Truck dispatchers use various equipment and technologies when working, including GPS and truck dispatch software. A good truck dispatcher must understand how to use and manipulate these technologies effectively to maintain better records and ensure that the entire transportation process is flawless.
• Strong analytical skills: The dispatcher must have the ability to collect and deconstruct information before they make logical conclusions. They need to demonstrate creativity and critical thinking skills when analyzing any situation.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations: The dispatcher should be able to comfortably adapt to different situations to thrive in a fast-paced environment and excel under pressure. Being adaptable often ensures that the dispatcher understands how to respond to different situations.

Physical Requirements:

• Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time
• Exposure to extreme temperatures on occasion
• Bending or stooping
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Prior truck dispatching experience, preferred
• Previous experience verifying appropriate material handling safety procedures are followed for delivery loads

Schedule: 40+ hours per weekMonday through Friday, weekend availability

Pay Range: Salaried, commensurate with experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
