Position: Diversity Advocate
Location: Ottumwa Community School District

QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree from a four-year accredited college or university in education, social work, human services or related field preferred. ?
Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be proficient in technology and with Google Docs, Calendar and Sheets.
Must be knowledgeable of community resources.
Must demonstrate the ability to work with groups and/or individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Must have excellent organizational skills.
Must be knowledgeable of data collection processes.
Must be willing work collaboratively with ELL teachers and fellow Diversity Advocates to plan and implement parent and/or family meetings.
Must have the ability to relate to parents, students and community members who come from diverse backgrounds.
Must be willing to travel in-district.
Experience working in a public-school setting preferred.
Knowledge of language acquisition and district-level assessments
Demonstrate ability to collaborate with district staff and community agencies.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with migrant and ELL students and their families, district staff, and community.
Demonstrate initiative and creativity and willing to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of migrant and ELL students and families.
