Who we’re looking for:
The
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Manager is a mission-focused and data-driven individual with creativity and experience executing strategies and change management that supports an inclusive culture where all employees are empowered, respected, and able to achieve their full potential. As the DEI Manager, you will be a key contributor to expediting and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies by recommending, developing, implementing, and managing internal and external diversity-related strategies, partnerships, programs, and initiatives.

What you’ll do:
- Develop goals, strategies, and performance measures to make United Way for Greater Austin more inclusive and serve as a resource in policy and procedures to promote and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. Provide technical assistance, training, and tools.
- Provide DEI leadership in the nonprofit sector both internally and externally. Identify partnerships and strategic alliances that add value and leverage resources.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of emerging social trends, community concerns, and political and service delivery issues. Lead DEI committee meetings and evaluate the organization's needs and levels of support to support their work in the diversity, equity, and inclusion areas.
- Contribute to learning and knowledge by providing best practices and innovative solutions for diversity, equity, and inclusion work. Through research, benchmarking, and events, deliver value to members on strategies to implement, grow, measure, and create "first in class" diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
- Lead the creation of goals, strategies, and performance measures that lead to more diverse talent acquisitions, development, and retention among staff and volunteers within United Way Worldwide and the United Way Network.
- Provide leadership and support to teams working on developing affinity groups/ employee resource groups and strategic segments through virtual meeting platforms. Encourage the utilization of multicultural teams to drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives which requires an understanding of cultural differences and an appreciation for emerging markets.
- Serve as a subject expert resource for others in United Way relating to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion change processes.
- Lead efforts related to applying for various external awards and completing external surveys to enhance United Way’s reputation as a diversity leader. Identify external recognition and presentation opportunities to highlight and share United Way’s efforts relating to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or relevant field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Proven writing skills, detail-oriented, and the ability to coordinate multiple ongoing events
- Experience in event planning, coordinating meetings, designing marketing materials/event announcements, and working on diversity-related programs or initiatives
- Proven success in developing and implementing diversity strategies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills

This position is located in Austin, Texas, and reports directly to the Director of Human Capital.
