The Chicago Divisional Fleet Manager is responsible for leading a team of Technicians in an aggressive preventative maintenance repair program. This includes the maintenance of large, medium, and light duty diesel trucks and trailers, and other equipment to ensure a safe and efficient fleet. The Divisional Fleet Manager will also collaborate and report to the Divisional Management Team to ensure that vehicles are safe, well maintained, and available for use when needed each day.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, schedule, and audit vehicle maintenance repairs include preventative, mechanical and electrical repair to tractors, trucks and trailers.
  • Prioritize and assign work to meet your fleets needs • Ensure quality, compliance, and safety of the company’s assets
  • Control repair, inventory, and labor costs • Coach and mentor technicians – perform audits and pre-shift meetings • Manage facilities, assuring a clean and safe working environment
  • Monitor and ensure fleet operations are following local and state rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for integrating vehicle data with accurate driver assignments and cost allocations.
  • Develop and implement standard operational standards to maintain vehicles by advocating best practices in the industry.
  • Coordinate relevant vehicle information and assist in resolving any Safety, EH&S, Risk Management, Assets, and DOT issues that may arise. Work with operations to anticipate and plan upcoming needs to ensure operational efficiencies
  • Perform quarterly fleet audits to divisional management of expenses and current state of the fleet.
  • Establish and report on yearly CAP Ex
  • Establish and report on yearly divisional maintenance budget

Qualifications:

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of RMX and Heavy Equipment control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems required
  • Knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems to diagnose and repair complex heating and cooling systems required
  • Knowledge of welding tools to fix heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure equipment
  • Knowledge of TMT Maintenance Fleet Software Experience:
  • 5-7 years of industry knowledge required
  • Management experience preferred

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent aptitude for customer service
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective problem solver

Working Conditions:

  • Operation within a fast-paced environment
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions
  • The noise level is usually moderate, but can be high and requires personal hearing protection on occasion at job sites, plants and laboratories
  • Must be able to work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composure
  • Local and Domestic Travel Required

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Must be able to stand and move about job sites with uneven and unpaved ground while managing concrete delivery on site
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to frequently bend to obtain samples from stockpiles or ground, climb ladders with buckets of admixtures, and push wheelbarrows of concrete
  • Must be able to operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipment
  • Must be able to work long and flexible hours as necessary
  • Must be able to maneuver in and around our plants, yards and job sites as necessary • Lift/Carry up to 55 pounds frequently
