Organization Overview:

The United Advocacy Group (UAG), focuses on meeting the needs of families in the Gloucester, Cumberland, and Salem County areas. UAG seeks to strengthen families in the following areas: Financial Fitness, Career Advancement, Health and Wellness, Educational Advocacy, Relational Health, and Child Development. The needs in these areas are addressed through case management, educational workshops, family fun events, and accessing community resources.

Position Summary:

Title: Domestic Violence Advocate - Cumberland County

Position Type: Full Time, 40 hours per week

The United Advocacy Group facilitates the Holistic Advocacy for Victims of Domestic Violence project, which seeks to support domestic violence victims as they work towards self sufficiency, independent living and financial independence. Through the project, UAG provides holistic case management, one-on-one mentoring, legal advocacy and connection to community resources to victims and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a team member representing the United Advocacy Group and execute its mission to increase family stability and success over broad categories of need,
  • Be self-motivated to establish committed and trusting personal relationships with clients whom UAG serves,
  • Assist clients in developing an action plan with clear goals and monitor their progress in achieving goals,
  • Provide referrals to relevant resources for clients,
  • Conduct outreach through community events, networking and bringing public awareness,
  • Adapt to flexible work locations and hours to best meet the needs of the client's schedules,
  • Maintain appointments for meetings with clients and staff. Where meetings or other appointments must be rescheduled, providing at least 24 hours’ advance notice,
  • Advocate across multiple system to ensure victims access to services,
  • Research possible community and state resources while staying abreast of criteria requirements which best fit the client’s situation,
  • Interact with groups of diverse cultural, economic and religious backgrounds while practicing active listening to determine what is being communicated,
  • Maintain regular contact with clients and hold monthly meetings with the UAG Advocate Supervisor,
  • Manage case files for clients, which entails preparing case related paperwork, database entry, drafting contact notes, and adhering to the “Timeline for Engagement” document and UAG’s guidelines for database entries,
  • Manage time wisely, balancing family meetings, case management, trainings and resource research while meeting deadlines and timetables for regular reports,
  • Complete and maintain timesheets using the “Netchex” payroll system,
  • Address issues that are flagged per case file audits, which will be conducted on a regular basis by DV Program Director and/or the Executive Director.

Training:

  • Attend monthly supervision meetings with Advocate Supervisors, as well as monthly Advocate Training meetings and continuing educational workshops.

Qualification:

  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated, managing time and paperwork,
  • Process familiarity with technology, computers and current forms of communication,
  • Ability to communicate orally, in writing and possess good listening skills,
  • Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience,
  • Ability to work throughout Cumberland County, NJ daily (does not have to live in Cumberland County to be considered),
  • Must provide your own transportation,
  • Minimum age of 21,
  • *Bilingual in Spanish & English preferred but not required.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday with flexible hours. (Occasional evenings and Saturdays required).

Remote Work: UAG employees currently work on a hybrid schedule with fixed in-person and remote work days each week.

Pay: $38,000.00 per year
