Safety Assistant

General Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Safety Assistant is to aid the Safety Team and terminals, working closely with Safety Management. Ensure all FMCSA regulations and Company policies are met or exceeded. This position includes data entry, the implementation, training, and auditing of FMCSA and company policy. In this role, you will use your skills and experience to develop collaborative working relationships with all US Logistics Solutions terminals, business partners, and contractors to instill and drive a culture of safety.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Job Duties:

• Pulling numerous Safety reports daily, reviewing them, and sending to the appropriate parties within the company.
• Following up on Hours-of-Service Violations and numerous Electronic Logging Device alerts.
• Keeping track of all repeat driver offenders on ELD system and ensuring training has been completed.
• Record keeping for all Samsara Equipment including sending out all requested equipment, requesting equipment back and tracking on various spreadsheets.
• Assisting with setup for new users and activating alerts.
• Record keeping on a variety of Safety Spreadsheets.
• Assisting with activating new ELD gateways and calibrating cameras for proper install.
• Performing daily data entry on Monthly Maintenance/DOT Inspection reports and maintaining such.
• Providing outreach to employees, promoting safety awareness throughout the organization.
• Tracking Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports to include correct repair and documentation on vehicles.
• Asist the Safety Team with tasks as needed especially during the peak season.
• Promote “Safety Culture” by supporting safety initiatives.
• Other Safety tasks as needed.

Required Education, Experience, Certification, Licenses, Registration:

• 3 years’ experience in safety, transportation, logistics, or equivalent.
• Training and auditing experience a plus.
• Knowledge on Hours of Service (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Knowledge through formal education, training and/or experience on the principle and practices associated with fleet safety, and FMCSA compliance.
• Proven ability to successfully implement programs and systems to comply with federal, state, and local occupational and transportation safety regulations as well as company policies, strategies, initiatives, and goals.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
• Must be resourceful and a skilled problem solver.
• Ability to coordinate and execute multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities.
• Must be a strong individual able to take initiative and complete projects from concept to completion.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be willing to be part of a fast moving and growing Team with the drive to maintain a high level of professionalism and drive.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
