Our Meals on Wheels program is seeking a Part Time Driver for 2 to 3 mornings a week. Since 1989, Deupree Meals on Wheels (MOW), located in Hyde Park, has provided older adults in the eastern portion of Cincinnati with warm, nutritious meals delivered right into their homes. The program strives to supplement family support by providing older adults with a healthy meal and social contact. The program is administered in partnership with the Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio.
As a Part Time Delivery Driver you will :
- Deliver meals in a company vehicle, assuring that all safety regulations are followed.
- Report hazardous conditions and accidents immediately
- Assist in the packing of home-delivered meals as scheduled and assigned and counting their assigned route meals and food needed
- Assure each customer receives the appropriate type and quantity of food and monitors the quality (i.e. temperature, appearance, etc.) of the meal.
- Clean and sanitize coolers and food equipment used in deliveries on a daily basis.
- Maintains the company vehicle in good working condition, including but not limited to keeping the gas tank full, checking the oil, and recording accurate mileage. Notifies MOW Supervisor of any repairs needed on company vehicle..
- Document in writing the delivery of meals on each route and returns all necessary tools (i.e. route sheet, keys, etc.)
- Act as a representative of the Meals on Wheels program. Greet customers in a polite and cordial manner and expresses patience, caring and respect. Monitors well-being of customers (i.e. health, living conditions, services needed, etc.) and makes report to supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records. Obtain client signatures on a monthly basis for receipt of meals. Distribute and collects materials to customers (i.e. contribution envelopes, flyers, surveys, etc.) as required.
- Accurately complete all written documentation and submits in a timely manner (i.e. time/mileage sheet, route sheet, leave requests, incident reports, etc.).Continually reviews route sheet and updates information (i.e. special instructions, cross streets, etc.) to ensure efficient delivery of meals.
To qualify for the Part Time Delivery position you must :
- Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license, appropriate auto insurance and good driving
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Be able to read, follow a schedule and have the ability to read maps.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Be able to read, write and understand the English language and speak the language in an
- Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such
- Have the ability to communicate with older adults and those with special needs.
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, clients, family members, volunteers,
- Function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work
- Possess sight/hearing sense, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function
- Not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
- Be able to maintain regular attendance.
- Be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccination.
