Zepher Flight Laboratories, Inc. (ZFL) is developing the “Z1”, a 55 pound, 14-foot span VTOL drone that is powered by hydrogen fuel cells. ZFL received a government contract in 2020 to create the Z1 prototype, and a second contract in 2022 to productize and deliver test articles to the U.S. Military. We are looking for engineers, technicians, and operators who are able and willing to push through this next phase with us. Candidates must have a good combination of skill, industry knowledge, curiosity, and drive in order to solve problems effectively and quickly.

Summary of Position:
Drone Assembly Technicians assemble drones by following work instructions and using hand tools. In this R&D environment, they will typically be instructed by an engineer or another technician on how to create a particular assembly. If no written instructions already exist, they may be instructed to write new instructions in MS Word. This particular assembly technician must be skilled in making cable assemblies.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills:
- Crimping and cable assembly of wires smaller than 20AWG.
- Soldering skills are required but are less critical than crimping skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with a small team
- Experience with mechanical assembly, hand tools, and following written instructions
- Experience with adhesives, thread locking compounds, anti-seize compounds, etc.
- Extreme attention to detail is required. A single mistake can destroy a drone.
- Able to read work instructions and able to write new ones using MS Word
Preferred Qualifications:
- RC aircraft, drone, and Part 107 experience
