The Direct Support Professional (DSP) or Direct Care Provider (DCP)/caregiver delivers supportive services to adults with intellectual disabilities and autism in their homes.

Job Overview

The primary role of this job is to maintain safety for everyone. Other important roles are helping the individual/clients to enjoy their lives by helping them accomplish tasks to become more independent, supporting their emotions and ambitions, and introducing them into different community activities.

Job Duties:

- maintain safety (sometimes managing challenging behaviors)

- care for the home (cooking, cleaning, etc.)

- personal care of the participants (dressing, showering, medication administration, etc.)

- assisting participants with skill development and community integration (identify new skills, help teach the skills, take clients into the community, etc.)

- complete documentation (daily goals, shift summary, incidents, data, etc.)
