POSITION OVERVIEW

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Roadway Engineer in our growing Design Engineering Services (DES) Group based in the greater Seattle, Washington area. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the Design-Build/Alternative delivery of infrastructure projects.

DISTRICT OVERVIEW

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build/Alternative Delivery team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. LOCATION

This role will be based out of Kiewit’s Lone Tree, CO office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform highway and civil design tasks,
  • Perform 3D modeling of horizontal and vertical geometric elements including finished grade, subgrade, walls, barriers, ditches, utilities, temporary drainage features, and maintenance of traffic facilities
  • Mentor and evaluate E1s and Interns
  • Create surface models utilizing OpenRoads Designer, InRoads, Civil 3D and/or other similar design software.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure that project elements are compatible
  • Create preliminary design concepts and alternatives for highways and civil features to support cost estimating.
  • Participate in project technical meetings, collaborate to resolve design issues
  • As a member of a design team, execute final design of project elements such as roadway geometrics, roadway design plans, signing and marking plans, maintenance of traffic plans, wall plan and profile sheets

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field,
  • Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam,
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk and/or Bentley CAD platforms,
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing,
  • 2+ years of civil / highway design experience;
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, 7th Edition,
  • Familiarity with USDOT/FHWA, MUTCD for Streets and Highways, 2009 Edition,
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, Roadside Design Guide, 4th Edition,
  • Familiarity with design-build/alternative delivery is preferred,
  • Experience developing construction plans for transportation projects is preferred
