Job Summary:
This class describes the early childhood educator. Duties include, but are not limited to, writing daily lesson plans for educational and recreational activities for assigned children or classes in accordance with center guidelines and developmentally appropriate techniques. Daily lesson plans may include activities in arts and crafts, music and dance, reading and storytelling, recreation, field trips, and related childcare activities appropriate to the children’s ages. Positions interact with supervisors and parents in dealing with the needs of ill children or children with behavioral problems. Positions may also conduct or oversee the serving of meals and snacks, maintaining safety and sanitation standards, and assisting children with a variety of tasks as requested by the child.
The Baby Haven Child Care Center located in Southwest Denver (Hampden and Federal) offers high quality childcare and early education for children ages 2 weeks through 5 years. The center is licensed, Colorado Shines level-5 rated, and Early Head Start site. The center is open Monday through Friday from 7 am to 5:30 pm. Services are provided to children throughout the Denver Metro Area as well as to families associated with Addiction Research and Treatment Services.
The Baby Haven seeks a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Early Childhood Educator in an infant/young toddler classroom (all teachers must work in all classrooms). Schedule varies M-F 7 am – 5:45 pm (primary shift will be 9:15 am – 5:45 pm). Must also be able to attend:
- Evening teacher in-services (minimum once a month)
- Evening family partnerships as needed (minimum once a month)
- Saturday in-service or family partnership (minimum quarterly)

Salary and Benefits:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:
- ECE I without EHS Certification $35,360 - $36,920
- ECE I with EHS Certification $37,440 - $39,000
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Current early childhood professional Credential Level III Version 2.0 as determined by the Colorado Department of Education
Substitution: Appropriate combination of education, experience, and licensure as outlined in the State of Colorado website for Early Childhood Teacher will suffice for minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience utilizing Creative Curriculum and/or Teaching Strategies Gold
- Experience in a licensed Colorado Shines rated or Early Head Start program
- Early Head Start Teacher qualified
- Experience working with families with risk factors i.e. homeless, domestic violence, mental health challenges, substance use disorder challenges, incarcerations, poverty, etc.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team, children, families, volunteers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to care for children and meet their needs in a calm, kind and compassionate manner.

- Demonstrated commitment and ability to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate expectations for young children 2 weeks through 5 years of age
- Ability to stay calm in all situations and to respond to children in a calm, appropriate and reassuring manner.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office programs

- Must be willing to earn Child Development Associate or equivalent per Early Head Start standards
