The Alabama Council on Human Relations (ACHR) seeks candidates for an Early Head Start Home Visitor/Parent Educator position. This position will service the Lee County Alabama area.

The individual selected will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing home and socialization activities for home based Early Head Start children and families; maintaining smooth functioning of home-based program by working in a team with other EHS staff to ensure EHS families and children receive services and for supervising all volunteer activities in the home and center with assigned families; displaying appropriate work habits, keeping necessary records, participating in training; upholding agency policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Continuously recruit prenatal participants and infants/toddlers for the EHS Home Based Program.; keeping a full caseload at all times.
  • Present information about ACHR and the EHS Home Based program to individuals who may be interested in participating in the program.
  • Attend community events and meet and talk with community partners to promote ACHR and the Home Based program as well as EHS and HS in general.
  • Recruit program participants by putting out notices, sending out flyers and/or copies of applications.
  • Schedule visits with parents before visiting in the home.
  • Keep parents informed of relevant agency information.
  • Plan home visit activities to provide developmentally appropriate, meaningful experiences for child and caregiver and to provide purposeful information.

Entry into the applicant pool requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a field related to assisting children and families. Will consider Bachelor’s degree in other related field with documented child development coursework or childcare certificate or AA in Child Development or CDA Certified in Infant/Toddler area.
