POSITION TITLE: Early On Service Provider
This is position is part of the COPESD AFT bargaining unit and is grant-funded. The continuation of
this position is dependent on adequate grant funding.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelors in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field
2. Experience in working with children and families in an early childhood/home setting
3. Knowledge and understanding of the Early On process
4. Experience in playgroup facilitation
5. Knowledge and implementation of Michigan’s Birth to Three Literacy Essentials
6. Valid Michigan driver’s license
7. Must be able to pass pre-employment background checks
8. Must demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance
9. Knowledge and implementation of Infant-Toddler Developmental Assessment (IDA-2)-
preferred
10. Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health Endorsement (IMH-E) preferred
11. Experience with or knowledge of teaming, family coaching practices, Talking Is Teaching,
Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework, Theraplay, Trauma-Informed
Care and/or TBRI is preferred
12. Basic computer skills including word processing, Google docs, sheets and
calendar. Experience with virtual platforms preferred
SERVICE PROVIDER JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for screening, assessing, developing and providing specialized, research-based instruction to
meet the unique needs of children and families with developmental delays and/or disabilities as identified
through the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) process. This position is responsible for coordinating
and facilitating all components of several playgroups in the COPESD area.
SALARY & WORK SCHEDULE:
- Per Cheboygan Otsego Presque Isle ESD Federation of Teachers AFT-MI, AFT, AFL-CIO
- Up to 183 days over a 12-month period, alternative calendar, some nights and
weekends
- Reports to the Early Learning Services Supervisor and the Early On Coordinator
- The continuation of this position is dependent on adequate grant funding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand and adhere to FERPA requirements for family confidentiality.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Act as Service Coordinator by arranging initial and ongoing visits with families whose
children have been referred to and are participating in Early On.
- Conduct assessment of family, clinical observation, developmental and health history.
Creates written evaluation report and enter into management system such as EdPlan
while complying with state mandated timelines.
- Provide case management
- Collaborate and work cooperatively with COP ESD and community colleagues to
further support families.
- Work toward a positive, productive relationship with families of Early On eligible.
- Attend program updates with EOTTA and any other training pertinent to the
position
- Participate in EO Community of Practice state or region
- Coordinate, facilitate and oversee community playgroups
create flyers, distribute and advertise
coordinate communication with EC team
maintain google calendar for playgroup
be “on-call” and troubleshoot playgroup issues in a timely manner
order and maintain materials
mentor and meet with playgroup ambassadors quarterly
provide training to playgroup ambassadors as needed
ESSENTIAL DUTIES,EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (continued): Take initiative and work independently when given a variety of responsibilities and assigned
tasks.
- Ability to make decisions and problem solve collaboratively with teams of service
providers in partnership with the family.
- Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Early Learning Supervisor
LOCATION: Cheboygan, Otsego and Presque Isle Counties
STARTING DATE: Winter 2022
