Title: ECQ Writer

Summary of Position:

We are seeking someone to provide SES Executive Core Qualification writing and editing services. This writer will collaborate with the SES selectee in order to prepare an ECQ package that will meet the OPM Quality Review Board (QRB) requirements. The ECQ writer will be to rewrite, expand and enhance accomplishments provided in the SES selectee’s resume, ECQs, and/or MTQs and PTQs.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze application package and review position summary to become familiar with organization, job requirements, and selectee’s experience;
• Assess strengths and weaknesses of initial application documents;
• Develop a timeline for package completion;
• Send selectee an introductory email that explains the overall process;
• Meet with selectee via telephone to explain end-to-end SES process, roles and responsibilities, timelines, answer any questions, and address any potential challenges;
• Partner with the SES selectee to walk through the selectee’s entire career and capture accomplishments and experiences (Federal, private sector, and volunteer) that effectively demonstrate the mastery of the fundamental competencies (Leading Change, Leading People, Results Driven, Business Acumen and Building Coalitions) throughout the ECQ statement; and
• Edit and rewrite of responses to meet OPM’s writing requirements.

Qualifications:

• Experience submitting ECQ packages to OPM
• Knowledge of the ECQ recruitment process and QRB submission methods: (1) Traditional ECQ Narrative; (2) QRB Template; and (3) Accomplishment Record
• Strong technical writing skills
• Experience collaborating with executives and government officials
• Experience using the CCAR (Challenge-Context-Action-Result) to describe accomplishments
