Overview of Job
:
The Certified Dental Assistant provides advanced technical assistance to the provider while reassuring and maintaining a comfortable experience for the patient. This position is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including patient care, administrative duties and laboratory functions. A positive attitude while managing an efficient patient flow that compliments provider schedule is key to this role.
Primary Responsibilities and Tasks
:

Triaging patient, including maintaining dental and medical records, monitoring blood pressure and reviewing patient medications

Accurately records treatment rendered and prescribed treatment and communicates the amount of chair time needed for proper scheduling

Ensures all dental equipment is turned on and properly functioning prior to the first patient

Assists the doctor by passing instruments, aspirating intra-oral fluids, mixing materials and medicaments during examinations and/or treatments within certification limits
-
Provides customer service support to patients by escorting them to and from the treatment room and prepping them for care by the doctor

Completes x-rays as needed

Assist with preliminary impressions for diagnostic and opposing models

Prepares all treatment rooms including, but not limited to, set-up, decontamination, sterilization of all instruments, cleaning, and restocking

Maintains cleanliness of the lab, sterilization area and traps

Changes all chemical solutions, i.e., disinfectant soaks and sprays, sterilants, and ultrasonic

Completes schedule audits for upcoming day and week

Inspects patient’s oral cavity and notifies provider of any lesions, existing restorations and missing teeth

Administers and monitors nitrous oxide to patients as applicable

Sterilizes hand pieces, instruments and cleans vacuum traps

Manages incoming and outgoing lab cases

Orders supplies within budget

Additional or different duties may be assigned occasionally at employer’s discretion.
