Job Title/Position: Extended Day Program Specialist, Department/School: Extended Day Program / Administration
Programming

Primary Purpose:
Under direct supervision, provide assistance specifically related to program quality, licensing standards and professional development for the efficient
operation of the Extended Day Program.
Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):
High school diploma or GED; three (3) years of successful afterschool experience; able to be recognized as an Operation Director as described in
Minimum Standards for School-Age and Before and After-School Programs under the guidelines set forth by the Texas Department of Family and
Protective Service.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the Extended Day Program curriculum and enrichment development and distribution. Research and design learning opportunities
and afterschool curriculum that reflect the cultures and values represented in the program community.
2. Research and acquire outside vendors to provide additional enrichment activities to Extended Day Program participants.
3. Conduct quality assessments of all Extended Day Program sites, files, and procedures to ensure compliance with DFPS Minimum Standards
and Extended Day Program policies and procedures.
4. Texas Rising Star liaison for the Extended Day Program.
5. Monitor adherence to budget allocations for programming costs.
6. Oversee the Extended Day Program website and social media accounts.
7. Oversee Summer Camp Field Trip scheduling and transportation process.
8. Oversee the Extended Day Program Summer Camps under the direction of the Assistant Program Manager.
9. Complete 20 hours of training annually in accordance with DFPS Minimum Standards.
10. Identify, analyze, and apply research findings to promote program improvement.
11. Ensure compliance at all Extended Day Program sites with DFPS Minimum Standards and Extended Day Program policies and procedures.
12. Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, UDCA Training and Texas Early Childhood Professional Development Training Certification (may obtain
after hire).
13. Know and comply with the Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations, DFPS Minimum
Standards, and Extended Day Program policies and procedures.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws as well as district, campus, and Extended Day Program operating procedures and
guidelines.
Knowledge of DFPS Minimum Standards [section 744 or 746 as designated on site licenses] and quality childcare programming.
Knowledge of administrative support and file maintenance techniques.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles and office management.
Skill in communicating effectively with others.
Skill in effective customer service.
Skill in working with various types of equipment including, but not limited to personal computers, fax machines, calculators, printers, and
multi-lined phone system.
Skill in working with word processing and spreadsheet computer applications.
Skill in working in collaborative team-based environments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Serve as the Operation Director of up to five Extended Day Program after school or summer camp locations, as needed.
Directly supervise Extended Day Program Enrichment Group Leaders.
Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):
Prolonged use of computer; repetitive hand motions; maintain emotional control under stress; must be able to lift and/or carry at least 30 lbs.
independently and over 50 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to work the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Work hours may rotate on
a flexible basis as needed to support various Extended Day Program needs.
