Overview:
Provides education and evaluation to nursing and patient care staff & facilitates evidenced‐based research within specialized areas. Collaborates with nurse managers and medical practitioners to incorporate processes into the plan of care throughout the CommUnityCare system. Leads the curriculum design and enhancements for the clinical training department.
Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilites:

  • Lead the design and curriculum for the new employees and the annual training selected by CUC.
  • Ensures the design and enhancement of the curriculum are evidence based, Joint Commission compliant and are compliant with CUC’s policies, standard operating procedures and standard delegated orders (as appropriate).
  • Collaborates with the nursing team, medical providers and other management staff in the planning, implementation and delivery of educational curricula.
  • Designs, implements and assesses the educational requirements of the clinical staff (RNs and MAs).
  • Provides continued to clinical staff to update their skills.
  • Ensures proper organization of training and monitoring requirements.
  • Is able to build relationships with the class students to ensure they are successful.
  • Is able to stay up to date on changes to healthcare rules and regulation as well as determine the education value of training materials and programs.
  • Initiates skills development programs within the parameters of established care models; monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality and infection control standards and parameters.
  • Ensures the clinical training team educates the appropriate staff in the use of new equipment, supplies and instruments; coordinates in‐service trainings for staff.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Lead the annual competency curriculum and fair.
  • Ensures the CPR courses are offered per policy, and staffed accordingly.
  • Conducts introductory evaluation on new clinical training staff and conducts annual performance reviews.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of protocol, procedures and standards of care within the area of patient care.
  • Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to staff in the area of acute and specialty care as it relates to selected skills.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Ability to assess educational needs to develop and design curricula.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate education programs.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Must possess a degree in nursing (ADN/BSN).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a minimum of two years of experience in a clinical education/training setting.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
Holds and maintains these certifications as a professional. Lapsing/expiration of these certifications/licensure will result in suspension of work:
1. Registered Nurse License
2. CPR Instructor (will need to become certified within the first 45 days of employment)

REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR):
Basic Life Support (BLS) ‐ Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Network or the Military Training Network.
