JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE OF JOB: Educational Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be highly qualified which requires one of the following:

§ Associate degree or higher

§ 48 hours college credit

§ Successful paraprofessional test

§ Bilingual recommended

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL: To assist classroom teachers in providing well-organized classroom environments in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist students in individual and group activities under teacher instruction (IEP)

· Assist teachers in preparing educational materials

· Assist classroom teacher in maintaining discipline

· Possess or obtain CPI certification

· Clerical work

· Assist students with adaptive needs

· Be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing

· Perform assigned building and grounds duties

· Attend appropriate building and district in-service training

· Be able to take directions from your supervisor

· Professionalism and confidentiality at all times

· Assist in all self-help skills under the supervision of a licensed teacher

· Follow through on all OT/PT lessons

· Assist students in moving about the campus

· Work closely with the school nurse

· Assist in the area of bus loading and unloading

· Perform all other duties as assigned by Building Principal

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms

The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with BOE policy.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $21,528.00 - $33,571.00 per year

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
