POSITION: Electrical Drafter/Designer

LOCATION: Blackfoot, Idaho

JOB SUMMARY:

Drafter would be responsible for the design and documentation of electrical assemblies and wiring systems for Spudnik Equipment. Drafter will perform the analysis, scheduling, task development, and completion of assigned projects. Tasks and projects will include research, component selection, design, documentation, testing and production support. Additionally, Drafters will prepare accurate and detailed bills of materials, schematics, and instructions necessary to facilitate the production of designed materials. Quality of workmanship, attention to detail, and self-motivation are required qualities for this position. Teamwork and customer service skills are vitally important as Drafters work directly and indirectly with engineers, customers, vendors, employees, supervisors and managers. Drafters will demonstrate high levels of responsibility and accountability, working effectively and efficiently at all times. Drafters must be able to work with their hands outdoors as well as capable of designing in an office environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Use designated CAD systems and drafting software to design, maintain, and document electrical assemblies, harness systems, and cable routing.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to provide mounting and protection for electrical components, harnesses, and sensors.
  • Imbed protective means against damage into the systems to protect against vibration, weather, corrosion, and movement.
  • Develop specifications, selection, and quotation components for electrical assemblies for successful equipment production.
  • Create, maintain, and provide complete and accurate documentation of designs including schematics, prints, diagrams, quality check sheets, and bills of material.
  • Learn and develop quality standards and regulations governing electronics, machine controls, and safety related functions of our machinery.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems on existing machines and develop proposals on corrective action using feedback provided by sales staff, customers, service technicians, production personal, and management.
  • Present options of the project to the project team and/or upper management and find the best solution for Spudnik
  • Communicate with internal and external customers effectively and professionally.
  • Redirect efforts in projects or projects focus due to customer or production needs.
  • Work closely with management members to keep a clear focus on company goals and objectives.
  • Work in a team environment with little or no supervision.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
  • Fill in during team member absences.

Qualifications

  • Possess either a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or an associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, an associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Drafting Technology or a degree in a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructional drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively work with CAD systems, schematic capture systems, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and other applicable computer systems and software.

  • Other machines and equipment specific to departmental or facility needs.

Typical Environmental Conditions

Worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. May have temperature changes due to working inside a shop or outdoor environment. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors, dust mists, gases or poor ventilation. There is air and or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
