General Description of Position:

Design, implement, and support electrical systems for production boats. Work is performed under general supervision where guidelines are prescribed but independent action is required.

Duties:

· Define requirements and component specifications for panels, wiring harnesses and boat electrical systems

· Insure component and system compliance with industry standards

· Conceive new electrical and electronic system designs for customer convenience and efficient manufacturability including supporting documentation and analysis such as DFMEA, DVP&R and manufacturing feasibility

· Conduct product research on electrical and electronic equipment and components

· Research and integrate new equipment design as industry trends allow

· Interface with propulsion and project groups for system layouts

· Generate engineering drawings for new designs and approve all electrical prints for boat release

· Review and approve load calculations based on ABYC standards for AC and DC electrical systems

· Determine shore power configuration and generator size (120-V,240-V, 50/60 Hertz)

· Determine battery and charging system requirements for DC electrical system

· Determine grounding and galvanic protection requirements for AC and DC electrical systems

· Approve main and distribution panel boards for AC electrical systems

· Provide technical expertise and insure consistency electrical documentation, methods and practices

· Generate Engineering Change Notice’s (ECN) as required

· Review and approve owner’s manuals for accurate and complete electrical descriptions and information

· Maintain NMMA certifications

· Perform final electrical design verification tests

· Insure timely and adequate completion of all applicable phases of project

· Facilitate training seminars for assembly personal informing them of new construction requirements and sound practices commensurate with MasterCraft standards

Education & Work Experience:

· BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

· Training in computer aided design

· Working knowledge of PC based software (Word, Excel, etc.)

· Minimum of 0-3 years experience in transportation or product design with knowledge of production processes

· Must interface well with other employee’s departments throughout the organization, outside vendors as well as dealers and retail customers

· Problem solving and decision making abilities

Environmental/Working Conditions:

Works in both office and plant environment. Office environment has controlled temperature, humidity and noise levels. Plant environment varies with outside temperature and noise levels vary in different production areas. Effective near vision or near vision accommodation is required. Talking and hearing are required. Minimal bending, stooping, walking, and stair climbing are required as is lifting items of moderate weight. MasterCraft quality standards and safety rules and regulations are mandatory.

Travel: Minimal travel required.
