Spectrum Software Technology (SST) is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer for our civil aviation programs, working in support of our Ground Based Navigation. The position requires a BSEE or related degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or an MS in related field with 1+ years of experience including internships.
The position is based at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s William J. Hughes Technical Center adjacent to the Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey. Partially Remote with 1-2 days onsite.
The prospective candidate will work as part of the GPS Civil Test Team, and will be responsible for managing the GPS Civil laboratory, performing experiments with GPS equipment, and supporting flight test aircraft equipment setup and testing.
Responsibilities:
- Aid in setup and configuration control of newly established GPS lab
- Learn about GPS concepts
- GPS Civil Test Team Document review/knowledge transfer
- Identify additional equipment needed for testing efforts
- Design and perform laboratory experiments with GPS and RF equipment and analyze results
- Set up and configure lab hardware and servers for GPS experiments
- Configure and operate spectrum analyzers, network analyzers
- Support GPS equipment setup and installation on flight test aircraft
- Analyze and quantify data gathered from lab experiments
- Manage flight test data recording library
- Research and investigate latest GPS and RF concepts and emerging technology
- Work with GPS Civil Test Team staff to investigate GPS receiver behavior
- Write in-depth test plans, test procedures, and test reports based on the analysis of the data
- BSEE or MSEE with 1-5 years of experience including internships
- Coursework or previous experience in either GPS, RF, Electromagnetics, Microwave, Antenna, Radar, Signal Processing or related is a bonus
- Testing or Prior work in a laboratory environment helpful
- Use of Oscilloscopes or Spectrum Analyzers a plus
- Strong Communication and Data Analysis skills
- Some exposure to MATLAB and/or Python is a bonus
- Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain secret clearance
