Valiant has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electromagnetic Spectrum Specialist supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s (DTRA) Vulnerability Assessments program. The Vulnerability Assessments program conducts objective, technically proficient, and relevant vulnerability assessments of key infrastructures, to identify risks to defense critical missions that could be exploited well below the level of armed conflict by state or non-state threat networks or could be significantly impacted by natural or accidental hazardous events. Components of these assessments include examining physical security, telecommunications, information operations, structural protection, utility subsystem, emergency management and response, WMD protection, and electromagnetic protection. The Senior Electromagnetic Spectrum Specialist conducts assessments of supporting Defense Critical Infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities which can be exploited by Unmanned Aircraft System threats.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct assessments of supporting Defense Critical Infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities which can be exploited by the Unmanned Aircraft System threats.
  • Apply radio frequency (RF) engineering principals to evaluate spectrum dependent technologies.
  • Be familiar with a wide variety of spectrum dependent systems including radars, communications, data links, satellite communications (SATCOM), and global positioning system (GPS) technologies.
  • Determine root causes and recommend methods of resolution and provide expert advice on the development, integration, operation of and planning for spectrum specific countermeasures.
Position Requirements

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess a Master of Science degree in Physics or related field of study with demonstrable emphasis (academic or experience) in Electromagnetic Theory.
  • Have 15 years’ experience in electromagnetic spectrum analyses and vulnerabilities.
  • Be knowledgeable in risk management processes such as the All-Hazards Threat Assessment (AHTA) and capability assessment methodology.
  • Be highly organized, able to work independently and without supervision.
  • Be able to work as a team with other subject matter experts to prepare for, execute, and finalize the assessment process.
  • Communicate effectively and engage with mid to senior-level civilian, military, or contractor personnel.
  • Be a US citizen and eligible for a TS/SCI level clearance.
  • Have or be able to obtain active professional certifications and trainings as directed by Valiant or the Government.
  • Accept worldwide deployments which include high threat permissive areas presenting some risks to personal safety.
  • Adhere to CDC recommended immunizations for worldwide deployment.
  • Be able to travel on short notice, work non-standard hours and take on-call duty.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid US Passport.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Be capable of preparing written reports, white papers, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Be capable of operating in all operational and physical environments and work collaboratively with USG military and/or civilian personnel.

DESIRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience working with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, preferably within the Nuclear Enterprise.
  • Previous experience working with CCMDs, Joint Staff, or similar levels elements.
  • Previous experience with intergovernmental or international partnership programs.
  • Currently possess a TS/SCI clearance.
  • At least 15 years’ experience working assessment related activities.
