Employee Benefits Specialist
Horizon Healthcare Staffing is searching for an Employee Benefits Specialist for one of our clients located in Nassau County, NY. This is a full-time position.
The Employee Benefits Specialist is responsible for the support and management of all functions associated with the administration of employee benefit programs. The EBS analyzes, designs, and administers employee benefits including, but not limited to: Welfare Benefit Plans, Retirement Plans, Mandatory Benefits, and other benefit programs.
Responsibilities:
· Administer the processing of benefit programs including the enrollment of new employees, changes, terminations, insurance claims and disability.
· Perform Costpoint system updates related to benefit rates, enrollments, and effective dates of coverage.
· Conduct employee meetings (including new hire orientation and annual open enrollment.) Arrange for the enrollment of employees in the plans. Conduct employee benefit seminars.
· Handle benefit inquiries and complaints
· Administer employee leaves (FMLA, MLOA, etc.)
· Administer other benefit related programs (Wellness program, Quest screenings, Flu Vaccines, etc.)
· Coordinate and correspond with various internal and external customers, such as external agencies and benefit plan administrators
· Maintain and process COBRA information and payments.
· Process the collection of loan payments through payroll deductions, and rollover and withdrawal requests for terminated employees.
· Evaluate and compare existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information
· Conduct analysis regarding industry trends to stay competitive in the market and retain employees.
· Assure company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act. (ERISA)
· Assure company compliance with provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
· Ensure benefit programs are compliant with changing laws and regulations
· Analyze costs and usage of programs by employees and their families to work with vendors to project future costs and changes in benefit programs.
· Develop benefit information and statistical and census data for actuaries, insurance carriers and management. Analyze and maintain records of fringe benefit costs to employees.
· Review and monitor Group Term Life calculations processed via ADP payroll
· Administer payroll deductions and premium payments of all welfare benefits and other voluntary benefits, including AFLAC Short Term Disability, Supplemental Life Coverage, Long Term Care and other programs for participants.
· Prepare quarterly pension contributions for the Defined Contribution Money Purchase Plan 401(A); biweekly contributions for the Tax Deferred Annuity 403(b) Plan; and biweekly contributions.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations
- Strong knowledge of Defined contribution Money Purchase 401A and Tax Deferred Annuity 403B
- Strong communication skills both written and oral.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with some knowledge of statistical analysis
- Strong Interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications. Must have strong Excel skills
Education & Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or a related field required. Will consider 4 years of direct work experience in lieu of a degree
- A minimum of 5 years related work experience required
- Previous experience in ADP Workforce Now and ADP Payroll, strongly preferred.
- Certification in field (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist - CEBS, Certified Benefits Professional - CBP, etc.) preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
