Employee Health/Infection Control RN, Manager
Job description
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Coordinates the surveillance, prevention and control of infections as indicated by the infection control plan.
2. Knowledge of the professional standard of practice of infection control, microbials and modes of disease transmission, and risk stratification and trending of nosocomial infections.
3. Advises staff about infection control issues.
4. Advises employee health about employee blood born pathogen and tuberculosis exposure and follow-up.
5. Monitors compliance with regulatory agencies’ requirements and accrediting organizations’ standards.
6. Educates patients, family members and hospital and medical staff about infection control issues.
7. Prepares infection control statistics and other pertinent reports.
8. Reports communicable diseases to state regulatory agencies.
9. Develops infection control policies and procedures.
10. Responsible for managing the employee health service functions of the organization.
11. Administers healthcare program operations and supervises subordinate staff.
12. Ensures that all medical records are kept in a manner compliant with appropriate policies and procedures.
13. May be responsible for administering employee physicals, injury related diagnoses, or other types of referrals according to OSHA regulations.
14. May provide consultation regarding workers' compensation, infection control or other employee health related issues.
15. Represents the hospital in relevant professional organizations and keeps up to date with current information in the literature pertaining to prevention and control of infection and employee health.
16. Plan and implement education programs in conjunction with all staff
17. Establishes and maintains open and effective communication; uses lines of authority appropriately.
18. Adheres to attendance and dependability standards and uses hospital time wisely.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current license as a registered nurse in the state of Oklahoma. Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare infection control experience is preferred.
