The RN incorporates the quality care factors of human care and performs established procedures in accordance with the organization’s and the nursing division policies, procedures in accordance with the organization’s and the nursing division policies, procedures, and standards of care in the GI Lab. The RN coordinates family involvement in the assessment/treatment and continuing care of the patient, and delegate’s tasks to competent and appropriate caregivers.

Be responsible for:

Assesses each patient’s biophysical, psychosocial, environment, spiritual, cultural, self-care, educational and discharge planning based on age and development status.

Utilizes the caring behaviors of empathy, active listening and cultural sensitivity and supports patient dignity.

Reviews the plan of care and consults with the physician and other health care providers to adjust the plan to assure optimum patient outcomes within the scheduled timeframe.

Provides patient/family education.

Serves as a mentor/preceptors for colleagues and other staff within or outside of areas of responsibility.

All Level 1 nurses must meet and maintain annually all of the Level 1 Performance Standards and expectations as outlined in the Level 1 section of the RN Levels of Practice Program.

Education and/or Experience

• Associate degree required, BSN preferred
• 1 year of GI experience or Med-Surg required.
• Ability to follow instructions and record information accurately.
• Able to communicate effectively using written and verbal English.
• Good interpersonal skills.
