About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Strategic Energy Management Coach II (Energy Efficiency Consultant)

The Strategic Energy Management (SEM) Coach II is responsible for leading and implementing existing and new SEM efforts for our utility and industrial clients. This is a project management role that involves a high level of customer engagement that results in generating work from new and existing clients. This SEM Coach II also delivers training and services to clients while taking the lead on large multi-faceted projects. This includes striving for continuous improvement of SEM, energy information and its processes. From being a key contributor to RFPs to working closely with clients to propose, design, deliver and continuously improve our SEM efforts, this role will also collaborate with our Energy Sensei team to enhance existing Energy Information systems.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Work directly with clients at their locations to fully understand their equipment and operations.
  • Engage with clients to review and understand energy performance results, including outputs from energy intensity models.
  • Provide professional cohort training and onsite delivery to clients, and track and report on results. Lead workshops and treasure hunts
  • Work with our Demand Side Management (DSM) program clients to propose, design, deliver, and continuously improve our SEM efforts targeted at industrial clients. Deliver both one-on-one and group cohorts to industrial clients, including refrigerator operator coaching, wastewater cohorts, and small industrial SEM (e.g. webinars, online SEM, etc.)
  • Mentor other members of the SEM team and work closely to continuously improve our SEM process, and introduce new SEM elements to our other work, such as facility tune-up work.
  • Partner with our SENSEI® team to build SEM elements into our existing Energy Information and Energy Management systems.
  • Act as the subject matter expert and key contributor to SEM business development
  • Expert knowledge of the role and motivations of DSM clients and support the “R&D” aspects of SEM program design and implementation.
  • Engage with DSM managers and apply strong customer engagement skills. Gain trust and be kept abreast of status.

This is a full-time position located in Northern California (Bay area preferred). Flexibility in hours is available with the expectation the employee must be available during normal business hours. Occasionally, additional efforts may be needed to meet the demands of clients.

Travel is expected approximately 15-20% of the time for this role. Travel will be mostly day trips, with an occasional overnight trip as necessary.

Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:

  • B.S/B.A. degree in business, engineering or other applicable field, or equivalent combination of education and relative experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in SEM, demand-side management, energy efficiency, or relevant field
  • Management of continuous improvement within the framework of Lean, Six Sigma, or ISO 50001
  • Hands-on experience in an industrial setting or with industrial clients
  • Previous experience or exposure to project management, management coaching and consulting

A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:

  • Experience with energy efficiency in conditioned buildings (office, higher education, institutions) is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health (90% paid for team member, 80% paid for dependents on HDHP plans and 85% paid for team member, 75% paid for dependents on PPO plans), vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy.

The salary range for this position in San Francisco area is $98.325 - $120,175/year. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
