The Engineer will provide relevant information, training, and technical assistance to water systems located in disadvantaged communities. The Project will target communities that often do not have the resources available to successfully design and implement proper drinking water solutions. The intent of this Project is to achieve measurable improvement in water quality and supply, more efficient water systems, and more stable and sustainable governance. Small water districts and mutual water companies that serve disadvantaged communities often lack training and experience in regulatory compliance and long-term system sustainability. They also suffer from contaminated and compromised water quality and lack skills or staffing to secure federal and state funding via grant and loan programs. The Project will provide technical assistance and support to help with all stages of project development. Must live in California and involves travel in the state.

Responsibility:

The Technical Engineer will offer engineering, hydrogeological and energy efficiency technical assistance in the following areas as needed:

Conceptual Engineering: will provide conceptual engineering technical assistance for existing conditions and concerns (e.g., regulatory compliance, etc.).

Preliminary Engineering and Design: will provide preliminary engineering and design technical assistance. This may include assistance with procurement of professional services; design schematic and layouts; and early phases of design. Preliminary studies may be performed in this phase, including preliminary sizing and layout of facilities, base mapping, power supply, ROW, easement and permitting assistance, environmental assessments (e.g., CEQA environmental opinions and analysis), surveys, geotechnical studies, hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, etc.

Ø Identify water and wastewater systems that could benefit the most from becoming more energy efficient

Ø Conduct water and/or wastewater energy efficiency assessments

Bachelor preferred in civil or environmental engineering

Professional Engineer or EIT helpful

Proficient in Access, Excel, Word, Outlook

Good oral communication skills

CA Driver’s License
