SUMMARY

Responsible for developing standardized processing procedures, scrap reduction, efficiency improvements, training of process technicians at the facilities and processing documentation for launches.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead initiatives to identify innovative processes, manufacturing automation, and growth expanding product development
  • Support manufacturing plants in process related issues, root cause identification, and resolution.
  • New material trials, documentation, recommendations and implementations
  • Processing feasibility of new product concepts and tooling reviews.
  • Implement scrap reduction projects through process, tooling, or equipment modifications.
  • Develop standardized processes with documentation for multiple manufacturing methods.
  • Develop specifications and obtain quotations for tooling and other equipment as needed for projects
  • Interact with customer as needed for quality issue resolution.
  • Engineering support including:
    • Measurement and analysis of production process parameters (energy use, scrap rate, operation efficiency, etc.)
    • Participate with Kaizen teams for continuous improvement.
  • Design and selection of equipment systems, packaging systems/materials, and materials for new products and continuous improvement.
  • Work with product engineers from development through post launch validation.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Routinely visit plants to provide support, evaluate plant operations, and provide requested assistance.
  • Evaluate equipment and operations for potential safety and health hazards; work with plant to eliminate hazards.
  • Write technical and business documents, reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Plastics Engineering.
  • 5 years of design and development experience in a plastic manufacturing environment.
  • 6-sigma green belt preferred.
  • Strong understanding and ability in 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
  • Knowledge of drafting and specification standards.
  • Scientific tooling knowledge.
  • Technical writing ability.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of SAP/JDE enterprise software, desired.
  • Clear and concise business and technical writing ability.
  • Demonstrated ability in process improvement, metric development, and problem solving.
  • Communicate effectively and tactfully with customers, managers and all levels of employees - Provide clear direction and explain technically complicated information in layman’s terms.
  • Work well with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Keep information confidential (confidentiality agreement required).
  • Strong organizational skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
