Position Summary

The Engineering and Tooling Manager will lead manufacturing and engineering operations engaged in the production of forged and machined components. This role is responsible for all engineering activities to support the optimum utilization of manpower and equipment, tooling management, the control of shop costs, conformance to production schedules, product quality, effective employee relations, and good safety, environmental, and housekeeping practices.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direction of a six-person engineering department which includes establishing manufacturing processes, CAD/CAM programming, industrial engineering, tool design, and document control
  • Responsible for timely release of engineering drawings, bill of materials, program files, new product development, cost-saving initiatives, and meeting established KPIs
  • Provide new product development leadership for the engineering team; execute tests to check final product adherence to the company and customers’ standards
  • Investigate and implement new technology, engineering tools and design systems throughout the production environment as well as lead scrap and labor improvement project.
  • Management of site capital budget and project selection
  • Responsible for supporting on-time delivery and accurate costing of products
  • Oversee the design, coordination, and management of the Tooling Department
  • Develop milestones and schedules for projects and manage to timely completion

Experience and Education

  • At least 3 year of managerial experience supervising Engineers
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing)
  • Experience with environmental and safety compliance requirements
  • Forging and/or metal melting experience
  • Experience with environmental and safety compliance requirements
  • Working knowledge of processing operations, ergonomics, and lean manufacturing
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
