Fluidra is seeking an Engineering Manager – Pump and Valves to join the team at our North American Headquarters in Carlsbad, CA.

WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE*
The primary responsibility of this leader will be leading a team of engineers focused on new product development and engineering sustaining activities. This position will work closely with product managers and program managers to bring high quality products to market on time and on budget. The Engineering Manager is responsible for the design, development, deployment and sustaining activities for hydraulic pump and valve products for aboveground, inground and commercial swimming pools.

This person will lead an internal group of design and development professionals along with key external partners to implement new solutions for growth as well as maintain existing product lines. The ideal candidate will be an Engineering Manager with some years of product development and manufacturing/process experience in a fast-paced team environment. This management position will have engineering leadership responsibilities for hiring, training, developing and mentoring a team of engineers. Additionally, you will:

Manage team resources to balance priorities in NPD, sustaining and quality initiatives.

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the team.
  • Lead NPD/NPI pump and valve projects to a successful market launch.
  • Set direction and strategies for engineering department as a member of management staff.
  • Responsible for hiring, mentoring, reviewing and growing team of engineers.
  • Budget responsibility for pumps engineering team.
  • Participate in product design, design reviews and compliance standards.
  • Take leadership role in promoting department values, processes and initiatives.
  • Clearly and openly communicate status of projects, org and budgets.
  • Create a team culture that supports open communication, collaboration across teams and across sites, and empowerment to employees

WHAT WE SEEK*

  • 7 or more years of engineering experience focusing on product design and development.
  • 2 or more years of managing direct reports in an engineering function.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes particularly in plastic injection molding and tooling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong team building skills and experience.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis and identify a solution.
  • Proven track record of leading successful project completion with increasing responsibilities.
  • Willing and experienced in travelling domestically and overseas as needed.
  • Knowledge of safety compliance agency requirements (UL, ETL, CSA, NSF, etc).
  • Working knowledge of pumping systems including electrical motors

EDUCATION*
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
