Job Summary
The Engineering Technician is responsible for varied projects and products for the development of manufacturing methods and processes in the production of various company product lines. Responsible for keeping production up to date on Engineering changes and new product releases. This includes production support, engineering support, production samples, design support, implementation, manufacturing support, and cost reduction.

Responsibilities :

  • Under the technical guidance of Engineering dept., manufacture production samples ensuring that they are available to meet production requirements
  • Through robust and regular communication, ensure a ‘no surprises’ production environment exists when new components, designs, processes or tooling are being introduced
  • Analyze and improve all existing processes and designs as required.
  • Develop manufacturing methods and processes in the production of components and methods to reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Implement processes and documentation for all current and new projects.
  • Participate in cost reduction and cost of quality programs.
  • Assist Engineering with prototyping of new or modified products/processes.
  • Support production and development of new products through the design review process.
  • Maintain and improve wire programming databases, production sample location programs, production sample tag libraries, and build standards.
  • Execute timely response to engineering change notice tasks across the range of products.
  • Collaborate with other depts. to ensure correct mechanical, technical, and ergonomic product drawings and BoMs exist.
  • Assists other departments in scheduling custom and new standard product releases to production.
  • Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.
  • Insures proper inventory integrity is maintained through communication with relevant depts.

Requirements :

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering or equivalent, or 3-5 years engineering experience.
  • Minimum 2 years technical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows.
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting ability.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical and pneumatic aptitude.
  • Ability to operate small hand tools and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to design/assemble small fixturing and tools.
  • Good organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience in drafting, sheet metal design and fabrication a plus.
