Position Summary
The Associate Enrollment Advisor is responsible for recruitment communications directed toward prospective students. This position is also responsible for assisting prospective students in the decision-making process relative to the academic, schedule, time, motivation, and cost benefits of attending the university
***This is a FULL-TIME onsite position at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Candidates will be expected to work a M-F 8a-5p PST shift at the location. There is also a vaccination requirement for this position***
Essential Functions:
  • Works lead flow via telephone, email and in person based upon direct recruitment activities.
  • Builds rapport with prospective students and assists with the initial portion of the application process.
  • Tracks and journals communications accordingly.
  • Facilitates the “Inquiry to Candidate” admissions process.
  • Reviews and researches university degree programs and policies to ensure clear and updated information is being provided to prospective students.
  • Communicates effectively with prospective students so as to determine what is being sought regarding educational goals and whether the university can adequately meet those goals.
  • Works with one or more mentors to consistently improve skills.
  • Passes all assessments related to required training.
  • Maintains high level of customer service at all times.
  • Maintains a positive working attitude and provides help to other team members, as needed.
  • Reasonable and consistent attendance to fulfill requirements of the position

Requirements:
Education & Experience:
  • Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school and six months relevant experience in enrollment advising in a collegial setting preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Call center experience preferred
  • Education sales experience preferred

  • Support management with creating, coordinating, and providing consistent outreach projects and services to military and civilian installations as assigned. Provide proactive input and creative support at local events to include Military Open Houses, College/Academic Fairs, and other specialized events.
  • Oversee applicable office resources and coordinate with management to request support for all IT assets and office supplies as needed. Ensure posted printed marketing materials are current and accurate and displayed attractively and in adherence to military requirements.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the Education Services Officer (ESO), Test Control Officer (TCO), Specialists/Counselors (our military partners) and various testing services.
  • Provide assistance to students that walk in, call, text, virtually, or email for admissions, registration, financial options, student account information, National Testing Center information, and base access requests for classes.
  • Assisting with retrieving transcripts and creating program estimate and scheduling classes for students
  • May have eligibility to attend local and national events, education fairs, conferences (includes annual commencement ceremony, as applicable).
    • Assist with the registration process for administered exams at National Test Centers such as CLEP, DSST, Pearson VUE, Accuplacer and additional exams as required and if applicable.
    • Ensure testing rules and regulations are being enforced (when applicable) according to the policies of the respective testing services, DANTES, and UMGC. Maintain current Test Administrator certifications for the various testing companies such as CLEP, DSST and Pearson VUE and additional exams as required and if applicable.
    • Facilitate testing services software updates and maintenance; troubleshoot technical issues with the testing services support and UMGC IT, as needed and if applicable.
    • Provide in-person coverage to other locations to provide testing services and/or academic advising.
