The Texas Association of Counties (TAC) is seeking a qualified person for an Enterprise Systems Administrator I position. Primary responsibilities are to develop and oversee the implementation, and support of the Texas Association of Counties’ (TAC) network and systems infrastructure alongside more senior staff. Perform research and analysis to provide resolution for complex technical issues related to TAC’s network. Serve in a key role in system uptime, security, and disaster recovery initiatives. May require evening and weekend work. This position will be a hybrid of in-office and remote work.

The Enterprise Systems Administrator I will be expected to:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation, and support of the TAC’s network and systems infrastructure. Required to monitor and enhance infrastructure health.
  • Required to work independently to perform advanced troubleshooting for complex technical problems including servers, storage, security issues, network architecture, and applications. Perform research and analysis to provide resolution for complex technical issues related to TAC’s network.
  • Develop system, network, and application implementation plans and testing procedures to ensure high availability of critical systems. Maintain TAC’s server and network environments by testing and deploy OS patches and firmware updates.
  • Configure, deploy, and support various solutions currently including (1) VMWare vCenter; (2) Converged infrastructure; (3) Microsoft Office 365; and (4) VoIP telephony.
  • Provide timely remote and in-person technical support to customers for various technical issues and act as a subject matter expert to TAC end users as needed. Serve as an escalation point and assist the End User Support team as needed.
  • Required to thoroughly document and diagram configurations and changes to network and server environments, using divisional work tracking protocols.
  • Comply with division process and procedures, including updating help desk ticket status, documenting solutions and configurations.
  • Follow and enforce Change Control policies and procedures.
  • Support fellow IT team members.
  • Understand and support TAC’s IT strategies and stay current with technology trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience / Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field preferred.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in the IT field required.
  • Up to two years’ experience in implementing, and supporting enterprise environments including infrastructure.
  • Preferred certifications:
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Engineer (MCSE)
  • VMWare Certified Professional (VCP)

Other Skills & Abilities

  • Must be able to explain complex IT concepts in simple terms to end users and to promote a high level of customer satisfaction through proper telephone etiquette and responding with an appropriate amount of urgency to system issues.
  • Must be able to diagnose and resolve technical issues across a variety of hardware, software, and networks, including:
  • Microsoft Windows Server and desktop Operating Systems
  • Virtualization technologies (VMWare, Hyper-V, etc.)
  • Office 365, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online
  • On-premises Active Directory, Azure Active Directory
  • Backup Solutions and Applications
  • VoIP telephony
  • Networking and Configuration (Wireless, LAN, WAN, Security)
  • Requires excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to relate to persons with a variety of cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Requires a high degree of professionalism in representing TAC in contact with members, vendors, and others.
  • Must function independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be proficient in use of personal computer and Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
