Job Description

ORGANIZATION AND OVERSIGHT: Oversee, implement, lead and administer the THPR compliance and privacy programs and the compliance and privacy programs for assigned joint venture hospitals (Texas Health Flower Mound, Texas Health Rockwall, Texas Health Center for Diagnostics Surgery Plano, and Texas Health Southlake, Texas Health Heart and Vascular Hospital) consistent with THR, THPR and the joint venture hospital compliance policies and programs. Serve as Chair for entities Compliance Committee and Privacy Committees.

COMMUNICATION AND TRAINING: Communicate the importance of compliance and compliance program to THPR senior management, the joint venture Boards of Managers, the entity compliance committees, THPR employees and the and joint venured employees. Increase knowledge of the relationship between services provided to patients, medical record documentation, reimbursement, and audit liability, and other pertinent compliance topics. Develop and/or implement education programs addressing compliance and privacy. Work in cooperation with THPR's Central Business Office on matters related to the joint ventured hospitals Chargemaster, billing and/or charging matters. Maintain specific knowledge and skills related to the THR Code of Business Ethics necessary to answering questions and providing guidance to THPR personnel on business ethics questions or concerns.Work in coordination with the THPR Privacy Officer as needed to carry out privacy initiatives and activities. Lead joint venture hospital and THP department leaders and staff in coordination of efforts pertaining to audits and/or compliance-related matters and topics. Motivate staff to use a variety of mediums and facilitate an atmosphere of teamwork and common goal achievement

POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND STANDARDS: Oversee the application of THR System and Joint Venture Compliance policies. Oversee the application of THR and Joint Venture Privacy policies taking appropriate steps to mitigate damage from breach of privacy policies and practices, when necessary. Identify and assess areas of compliance and privacy-related risk and related internal controls for these risk areas.

MONITORING, AUDITING AND ENFORCEMENT: Oversee entity compliance and privacy monitoring and auditing activities and coordinate as needed with THR System Compliance staff. Communicate audit/monitoring findings. Monitor the day-to-day activities of THPR and the joint venture hospitals to further their compliance objectives. Conduct and oversee investigations as appropriate. Coordinate investigations with legal counsel and THR Senior Vice President/Chief Compliance Officer for major violations of law or policy. Oversee and follow-up, as applicable, implement corrective actions to investigations and other issues generated by the compliance and privacy programs.

DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT: Supervise and direct work activities of compliance department staff. Develop and manage annual THPR compliance department budgets.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Required
Masters Degree Preferred

Experience
5 Years Healthcare compliance experience including basic understanding of revenue cycle and reimbursement for both government and private payors - basic understanding of Stark, Fraud and Abuse and HIPAA statutes - will consider advance degree in place of experience. Required

Prior supervisory/management experience. Required
and
Prior compliance officer and/or privacy officer experience. Required

Licenses and Certifications
CHC - Certified in Healthcare Compliance Upon Hire Preferred
CHC - Certified in Healthcare Compliance with in 12 Months of hire Required

Skills
Knowledge of industry standards Medicare, Medicaid, Regulatory standards for affected area of responsibility.
Knowledge of continuous improvement, change management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
