ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Geosyntec s practitioners contribute to improving our environment by evaluating contaminated soil, groundwater, and sediment; and designing and implementing cleanup strategies to address the contamination. Our solutions allow for redevelopment and meaningful change to vacant and underused properties in our communities. We want you to help achieve our goals. Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Field work, site investigation and characterization, including sediment, soil, surface water, air monitoring, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight;
  • Well installation, aquifer testing, and groundwater monitoring;
  • Data analysis/visualization of site investigation data including the preparation of tables, maps, and figures using both industry-standard and cutting-edge applications;
  • Aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analysis;
  • Monitoring and oversight of site remediation and environmental construction projects;
  • Performing and reviewing engineering calculations;
  • Conducting remedy evaluation, cost estimating, remedy design, and implementation;
  • Performing remediation system operation and maintenance services;
  • Developing site remediation construction documents; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.

Here are some other things you should know about this position:

  • Training: This position requires health and safety, first aid, CPR, and other training, as well as medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our employees to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 70%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 50%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering with an environmental focus. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (preferred)
  • Ability to obtain professional engineering (P.E.) license registration within 4 years. (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior research experience or demonstrated interest in contaminated media or remediation technology. (preferred)
  • Experience with visualization tools (ArcGIS, EVS), Microsoft Access or other database programs, and/or modeling (Modflow, geochemical equilibrium models, etc). (preferred)
  • Prior internship, co-op position, or work experience related to environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Strong oral and written communication and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
