Spokane Galvanizing, Inc. is currently looking for a full-time EHS Coordinator to join our family.

Summary: This position will provide full time environmental health and safety support to Spokane Galvanizing (large quality generator) and all EZ Loader locations. The EHS Coordinator will support the development and coordination of safety training programs and ensure organization is in compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to carry out essential job functions, included but not limited to:

  • Develop, practice and re-enforce safe working techniques and safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company by encourage employees to choose practices that will contribute to a safer work environment.
  • Advocate for safer work equipment, materials and supplies (e.g. hard-hats, steel toed shoes).
  • Train employees on health and safety regulations and associated practices. Maintain, update and develop as needed SOP’s for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day to day training.
  • Perform and contribute to the Safety Training Plans by conducting employee orientations; emergency response training; and coordination of other training programs for the organization
  • Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.
  • Coordinate and communicate with GM on facility deficiencies and daily, weekly and monthly safety inspections/audits.
  • Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements;.
  • Evaluate personnel and work space exposure, disposal and storage to hazardous chemicals including identification, packaging, storage and shipping of chemical waste
  • Familiar with spill containment procedures.
  • Submit reports to Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and other relevant organizations.
  • Maintain Accident Prevention Plan for all locations.
  • Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, reporting and managing the corrective actions. Track the increase/decrease of on-the-job accidents from year to year.
  • Attend seminars/workshops that discuss new regulations and safe practices.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * Extensive knowledge and the application of OSHA regulations and Department of Ecology

  • Experience and Knowledge with WA State Department of Ecology Dangerous Waste Regulation preferred
  • Extensive knowledge and the application of the principals of Washington State Labor & Industries Safety guidelines
  • Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and programs in a fast-pace environment and demonstrate effective prioritization and implementation skills
  • Strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Certified Forklift Trainer preferred
  • Ability to maintain working relationships with regulation agencies (i.e. WA L&I)
  • Ability to be proactive on all safety, environmental and health guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to speak in group settings

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations. Proficiency in computers is required, particularly in Microsoft Office-based programs

Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos and able to write simple correspondence. Have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations with customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee is regularly exposed to outdoor climates.

Compensation:

Salary - $57,000-$61,000
